Did you check this with a dbaccess form the prompt on your AIX ?
Entering a simple command ?

Yep a restart of your application will start new cursor's
1: New user do things diffenently bringing new bug to the surface
2: Maybe a other error condistion is nice catched by your appl.
but not handled later on in the application where it expacts
the cusros is still open.
