IBM inks deal with Amazon. IBM licensing is free for development purposes, however you're on the hook for Amazon's charges for using their cloud. When you go to production, you then incur IBM's license cost(s)? That doesn't make sense, does it? I mean isn't the point of going in to a 'cloud' is to reduce your infrastructure costs? Also, when you purchase resources from the cloud how do you know how much cpu you're going to use and license? It would be nice to know what/how IBM intends to license access. Don't get me wrong. The wonderful thing about this is that IBM actually included Informix (IDS) in the announcement and not just DB2.
