I LOVE INFORMIX: failed tape restore

Hi folks, Here is my success story: Recently, our Informix On-Line 5.07.UC1 wouldn't get up and I got these messages in its log file: tblspace header error: <memory dump> -- Fail Consistency Check... Cannot Open Dbspace 3 ... so I decided to restore from tape. After several hours I got the message: Error reading from tape device, Error No = 5 and the shell prompt. Anyway, I tried to tbinit and, to my huge astonishment, after going through phisical recovery, the thing DID GO UP!!! Yahoo! WOW! This is impressive! I WOULD expect any serious DBMS behaive that smart but in fact, I DID NOT expect it, I only hoped. :) So, thank you Informix guys! Great job!
