Some app. prepare a dynamic sql statement and either forget to free the statement-id or perform the free statement very late. The FREE statement in 7.11 gave the memory back to the session, not to the server. Therefore the memory allocated by an application was reserved for the session and if your session didn't terminate this memory was lost forever. ( tip: monitor the "ralloc" pool of the sessions ) Meanwhile, this problem seems to be fixed, but I don't know if it was a bug. I did the test using version 7.22UC1 on HP-UX 10.10. When I closed a CURSOR, the memory was freed immediately and available for the server. Bye Stefan
