ODBC Setup
Posted in 1999
Jason Pancake asked where to find the Service Name and Server Name that the ODBC driver setup requires. Roman Sapia pointed to the sqlhosts file under INFORMIXDIR/etc. Jason then got system error 126 loading the MERANT 3.50 driver (Informix 7.x on AIX, NT client). Randy Hao suggested checking the TCP/IP port in the services file; Richard Spitz suggested setting INFORMIXDIR and PATH. Unresolved.

ODBC Driver Setup is asking for "Service Name" and "Server Name". Anyone know where I can find these settings and how to get there? Look in you $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts, must looks like this: Server_name Protocol_name Hosts Service_name -- Rom'n Sapia roman_news@decker-indelqui.com.ar Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. Thank you for the info. Now my problem is that I get an error stating "Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 126 (MERANT 3.50 32-BIT INFORMIX)" Does anyone know how to fix this? You may need check the TCP/IP port are match with each other(client and server). Take a look service file (c:\\windows\\services) to see the port is available or not. If not, you need add into it. I should probably mention that I'm running 7.x on AIX - IBM RS 6000 and I would like to setup the ODBC driver on my NT Workstation box in order to write and play with VB front end. You can do this with the "setnet32"-Utility (does that still come with version 3.50?) or through the NT "My Computer/Properties" dialog. Also make sure that $INFORMIXDIR\\bin is in your PATH.
