running 4GL processes via an rpc or rsh

I want to run someone else's Informix 4GL programs from a PC program I can start the program up simply by running it from an rsh or rpc. this displays a form where normally you would hit q (for query) and enter a product code but since I want to do this from inside a program I don't have a "user" who can type these in. It isn't a telnet session. I thought I might be able to 4glprogram < script.txt but this doesn't seem to work.
