I am having problems connecting to my Informix instance...well kinda!
I am able to use dbaccess to successfully connect to the stores7@demo
database. These options work:
* dbaccess->database->select->{select database}
* dbaccess->connection->connect->{select server}->{press enter for
user:}
However, when I try to connect the following way, I cannot connect:
* dbaccess->connection->connect->{select server}->{enter username:
informix}->{enter password: abc123}
* dbaccess->connection->connect->{select server}->{select
database}->{enter username: informix}->{press enter for password: }
*** Each of this scenarios results in a -952: user's password is not
correct for the database server.
I added a '+' to the /etc/hosts.equiv file to see if this would have any
effect. No!
BTW, I ran each of these scenarios as user informix.
Not sure where to look?!? Any thoughts?
Environment:
Redhat 6.0 on i586
IDS 7.30.UC7 for Linux
Sqlhosts
demo onsoctcp myserver demo_tcp

Are you using passwd shadowing? If so, you can't connect that way due
to a known bug. You can avoid it by turning passwd shadowing off via
the pwunconv utility, if that isn't unacceptable for other reasons
(e.g. if this is a standalone machine).
