IFMX_CleanConnForPooling error in Client SDK 2.81
Posted in 2005
I'm getting occasional System.NullReferenceException errors in IFMX_CleanConnForPooling using the IBM.Data.Informix classes in SDK 2.81. I don't really expect anyone to have any ideas about this - it looks like an error in the SDK code, presumably the bit that tidies up old poooled connections. The annoying thing about this error is that it can occur at any time. I would just like to pass this on to others who may be thinking of using the IBM.Data.Informix classes in a production system. We have had other errors in this area and I would not consider it robust enough for a production system at the present time. I should also mention that anyone considering using these classes with .NET should also build in from the start the ability to handle timeouts from the connections. This happens when it takes longer than 25 seconds for the engine to respond and is non-configurable. It happens when the software is waiting for a lock and when the database is slow to respond to a query. I'd appreciate any infomration from anyone who has used alternatives with .NET, for example the Openlink software. Cheers Richard Moon
