troubles experience?

Dear colleagues, My company is evaluating a number of database management systems to see which one can serve needs of our products. Such a DBMS should be integrated in our object-oriented development environment and should serve as a storage for large amount of data (dozens of gigabytes) mainly processed with C++ applications and with high data modification and lookup rates. The objects of our intent interest are Informix, ObjectStore and Versant. We are rather familiar with strengths of the databases but realizing of their weaknesses are much more important for us since this is the main issue expecting to influence upon our design and development solutions with a DBMS chosen. We would very appreciate anyone's kind decision to share his knowledge of known troubles experienced in his dealing with the mentioned database management systems. We would very appreciate anyone's reply that no trouble has been noticed too. We would be very grateful for any comments (preferably sent also/only to my E-mail address) and we promise to send a summary of all received replies (unless a sender doesn't want to make his reply public) to the newsgroup.
