Just a couple of years back Powersoft was one of the big players of the client/server tools business, and if you check out the tools coming out of Powersoft's groups within Sybase today they are competitive. Now here is an idea, please feel free to comment, how about if Sybase and Informix were to merge? Sybase and Informix are the #4/#5 or #5/#6 in their overall markets, but together they would have a stronger product line-up, and given Informix in the past has traditionally focused on different channels than Sybase, they would complement each others channels too ... assuming Informix hasn't undone this over the last couple of years. Informix and Sybase's database technologies coupled with Powersoft's tools and Sybase's middleware and replication technologies, now that sounds like a winner. Of course we would need Kertzman and the former Powersoft VPs to make it work :) So offer them all a couple of million options a piece to stay or rejoin the company and make it happen. Please feel free to comment. Regards, * Frank *
