SE 5.x -> 7.x -- Any Advantages?

We're currently using SQL and 4GL (Compiled) versions 4.10.UD1 with SE 5.04.UC1. With our current maintenance, we have the option to upgrade for free to v7.x (with a higher cost on maintenance of course). Before I decide to do this, I need to know if there are any advantages to spending the time recompiling, etc. I think I heard mention of a cost-based optimizer which v5 does not have, but is this enough of an advantage to justify the upgrade? Any other insights would be appreciated as well. Reply/Post any wisdom, and Thanks in advance.
