Re: DELETE ROWS - how to recover disk space

I would suggest unloading the rows into 2 files, one with
UNLOAD TO file.drop SELECT * FROM <table> WHERE <condition>;
UNLOAD TO file.keep SELECT * FROM <table> WHERE NOT <condition>;dbschema ... // save off table schema
DROP <table>;
CREATE TABLE <table>...;
LOAD FROM file.keep INSERT INTO <table>;CREATE INDEX <indexes on tables>...;
...
UPDATE STATISTICS ...;
A side effect of this approach is that you can resize the new table with good
values for EXTENT SIZE and NEXT EXTENT, and recreate indexes with good values
for FILLFACTOR.
In a previous project, we reengineered a month-end process that used to DELETE
from tables to one that did the above.

Subject: DELETE ROWS - how to recover disk space
Hi!
When I perform this :
DELETE FROM <table> WHERE <condition>;
Rows are deleted, but I cannot recover the disk space. I
know that free rows are used later by new records, but
today my disk is more than 95% full and processing time is
excessive.
Please help me to recover disk space.
Any idea will be greatly appreciated.
Valerie.
