Dear All, The following business system needs to be migrated on to the latest version of Informix on RISC Machine. I hereby seek a few clarifications on the procedure. Current System Requirements Hardware/OS SONY UNIX Workstation, NEWS1750 CISC Processor, NEWS-OS Rel 3.4 Database Informix =96 SQL 2.10.03K Informix =96 ESQL/C 2.10.03K Informix =96 4GL 1.10.03K Development Language C, Shell Script, Informix =96 4GL Future System Requirements Latest version of Informix on RISC M/C. Assumption All the source programs of the current system are available. Why Migration=85? For improved performance. Queries=20 Q1. Given the above scenario, will just recompilation of the existing source help? Q2. If no, is there any conversion tool available? Q3. Will Informix server give multi-language support? ( The application is in Japanese ) Q4. If not, does latest version of Informix have a Japanese version readily available in the market? Q5. Assuming the code is fully functional, how long do you think the conversion activity is going to take for a source of approximately 1000 lines of code? Q6. Will just porting on latest H/W and S/W bring out better performance? Regards, ___Krupa
