Hi,
I am using IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.50.FC6WE, RHEl 5 (18GB RAM,
x64) and an application is continuously inserting into a table (around 10+
records per sec). After certain time getting memory allocation exception in
application logs. But no issue found in online log. To resolve the application
is required to restarted.
On analysis found that ralloc in onstat -g ufr <sid> is increasing
continuously and very fast. sqscb, buft_buffer & fragman are also increasing.
Memory usage for pool name 1661:
size memid
3288 overhead
144 scb
2920 ostcb
11049648 sqscb
72 sql
2387656 filetable
12110416 fragman
2520 osenv
7816368 sqtcb
552 hashfiletab
16536 log
1592 gentcb
267308008 ralloc
30170368 opentable
1120 rdahead
2208 temprec
392 keys
648 ru
733384 sapi
886800 ID(512)
20114040 buft_buffer
Please suggest if it is a informix config issue or there is memory leak in the
application.
Regards,
Sridip
Hi, There was a bug in IDS 10 that (IC50084 ONLINE-SQL) A memory leak occurs in ralloc when repeatedly executing a stored procedure which returns a set type. But how I am getting the same issue in IDS 11.5FC6WE? Can any one suggest... Regards, Sridip
Issue resolved,
onstat -g stm was showing thousands of open statements, on closing thesessions issue was resolved.
Regards
This generally means the application is not closing the cursor or prepare
statement. If
the is a java program, please make sure the garbage collector is not
responsible for free
the cursors/statements.
You can automatically force a free on a close, by setting the application
environment variable
IFX_AUTO_FREE.

there are several bugs in the version you're using which are causing memory leaks, in our case it was related to prepare and open/close cursor loop in XA transactions. same symptomps with ralloc. upgrade to Informix 11.50.FC7 solved the issue. ;)
