RE: ** RETRACTION ** Order By in 4GL Report

Chriss, anyone can give inaccurate responses (mine are plain wrong most of the time :-), and this is particularly true if someone hasn't used a product for years (although, GeiEl, reports haven't changed between 4gl and New Era... time to drop that PERL thing and have a rest :-) What makes Jonathan different is that his responses are usually plain illuminating, and he has enough guts to specifically say he is wrong whenever he is. This is a technical forum. Here we help each other (I gained much more from cdi than from the manuals or the TECH support). We don't (and don't have to) compete. So, giving a possible solution is appropriate. Contraddicting somebody is appropriate. Asking for a public retraction is not. And even if Jonathan did something he shouldn't have done (making private corrispondence public), Chriss, it *appears* like you asked for it. And, BTW, Jonathan is *NOT* some guy from Informix. He is the *GREAT JL*. Grovel appropriately before speaking to him :-) Ciao, Marco ____________________________________________________________________________ rem radioterapia, which I immeritately manage, seldom agrees with what I say marco greco (Catania, Italy) Work: marcog@ctonline.it rem radioterapia 39 95 447828 fax 446558 (was mar.greco@agora.stm.it) Achea 39 95 503117
