Condensed Printing on 4GL for Windows

Does anyone have succesfully printed a report from a 4GL for Windows application in condensed mode without setting the printer manually?? If so, please tell me how to do it. I've tried using the traditional escape sequences in the PRINT instructions, but the printer seems to be blind to these characters.
