As others already pointed out you can use
onstat -
If you plan to upgrade to V7.3 the status word (Quiescent ....) will
change from position 5 tpo 7 (parsing with awk $7 instead of $5, see below),
so you need to know which version you are on
V7.12:
INFORMIX-OnLine Version 7.12.UC1 -- On-Line -- Up 19:16:06 -- 132280 Kbytes
V7.30:
Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.30.UC3 -- On-Line -- Up 19:47:54 -- 17952
Kbytes
... and it does pay of to look after a second line starting with 'Blocked' [
without the tics ] If your continuous Logical Log Backup dies it will be
Blocked: LBU You will find these details on INFORMIX's web page in the
answers online section (the fine manuals in pdf format) in the Administrators
Guide section if you look for onstat
During a restore it is much better to do onstat -m -r 5
or tail -f the online.log file (expensive, but good if you can afford it)
looking (=grepping) for state change messages
