We're considering combining the two. The databases are and will be accessed both by programs written in Informix 4GL, for Unix systems, and Passport for Windows systems. I've been using procedures primarily for select statements while update and insert statements have generally been handled by the individual programs. I'm wondering if I would see any significant improvement by proceduralizing the update and insert statements. For the most part, updates and inserts are executed from single specific parts of the code (ie: multiple programs rarely execute updates or inserts on any particular table). -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- Scott Holmes http://www.pacificnet.net/~sholmes sholmes@pacificnet.net Independent Programmer/Analyst Passport 4GL HTML Composer Informix 4GL, SQL --------------------------------------------------------------------- There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------2FCC53BE4F1C7AADE0CF83E7 Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit <!doctype html public "-//w3c//dtd html 4.0 transitional//en"> <html> I'm currently examining the database structures of two separate but very similar systems I've been working on for several years now.
