Yes, we are currently in the final testing phase before going prodictive in July.Basically the clients are divided into two groups, one for server1 one for server2. The groups only share rather static data, that is replicated with triggers. The big tables are only accessed locally. > We are considering using HACMP for our disaster avoidance/recovery > scheme for an AIX 4.3/Informix7.3 setup. Basically the cluster Manager can start scripts that get the node number as the first parameter. Therefore you need a start and a stop script that starts the correct instance given node1 or node2 as parameter. Be sure not to have conflicting names for the two instances. (vg's, lv's chunks, servernum... the service number can be the same) When Server 2 fails the Cluster Mgr imports the volume groups, takes over the IP address and then starts the scripts with parameter node2 on Server1. Once Server2 is available again it stops node2 on Server1 and starts node2 on Server2 again. (and vice versa) These are very basic functions of HACMP available since the early versions. > Have you actually experienced an HACMP failover, and, if so, how did > it go? We (fortunately it was IBM that did the work) had big problems with the SSA adapters, the early dual ported versions did not work in both directions (Server1 failing). Once the newest adapters were installed, the rest was rather straight forward. > > > TIA, > -Judy Ross > For ease of application development we keep a very close eye on the Informix Parallel option.Waiting for the needed features: connection takeover (or at least automatic reconnect) re-prepare of prepared statements on new connection transaction takeover mirroring across nodes (available now ?) And on AIX: long distance cluster (two locations ~20 km apart)greetingsAndreas Zeugswetter
