This refers to NE 1.1 and an early 2.0 release. I think SuperTables are too clever by half, hiding a lot from the programmer and forcing you to dig around at a pretty low level to do things that were fairly trivial in the 4GL. Great for simple stuff - single tables, simple joins etc - but try figuring out how to populate one with the results from a temp table that you just built. It's do-able, but distinctly not nice. My first choice for a database front end at the moment would be Progress V8, if only their damn ODBC drivers worked. Progress server is not a patch on even Informix SE, though. OTOH, the NE language is great. My wish list would be Delphi generating/using NE instead of Object(ionable) Pascal. IF Informix are dropping VPPro (I haven't heard) you're also down a graphical reportwriter. Peter Wiley
