This is a follow-up to my post concerning signals in 4GL, which has generated a fair amount of requests for more info. The library was conceived to provide control over monitoring programs that run indefinately. These monitors are now able to receive signals to suspend, resume, and terminate in a manner that coexists elegantly with transaction processing. I've even expanded into enhanced process control and inter-process communiation with these routines (this is starting to sound like semaphores). I will gladly post the mechanics of my 'signal' library with the hopes of exploring its potential with fellow Informix 4GL developers. I am also open to an "exchange" for source code.
