Try running
SET EXPLAIN ON
in dbaccess then run the query....
You should get a n sqexplain.out file produced. What does it say?
I expect that since you are searchin on the middle characters of a
column that an index is not being used and it is scanning the whole
table.
Don't query on the middle of a column, instead break the column up
into several columns. It look like you one column is really several
pieces of information all joined together...
