how do nonblocking checkpoint use the physical log? when do they fire? how does fast recovery work concerning nonblocing checkpoint?
Non-blocking checkpoints are exactly like the old full checkpoints in 7.xx except that additional information is kept in the logs. The physical log is not permitted to overflow during a checkpoint, the checkpoint will convert to a blocking checkpoint if an overflow appears likely. Also, a checkpoint is always written (if AUTOCKPT is enabled) when a new logical log is started. Look at the Administrator's Guide and the Peformance Guide for more information. Art Art S.
