You may have data corruption run all the oncheck options you can.
tbcheck -cr
tbcheck -ce
tbcheck -cc <database name>
and the slow option (this checks all index and data pages for the
database) :-
tbcheck -cID <database name>

Sounds like a very old version of 5, I have a client running 5.07.UC1
and 7.20 is out already.
