dBASE (xbase) to Informix
Posted in 1994
We're looking at Informix to setup a single database for plant records at MSU (and other stuff). Currently, all the information is in dBASE IV V2.0. Is it reasonable to assume that I'll be able to get the data from *.dbf files to Informix without retyping any of the data. I realize it may be semi-automatic at best, maybe running reports from dbase to ASCII files, then importing these into Informix. I wouldn't mind use PERL w/ informix enxtentions to do most of this. Is there PERL for informix (ie like sybperl for SYBASE)? I need to assure others here, that this indeed will be feasible before convincing them to switch to any Unix based database system.
