Thank you for the several helpful and pertinent responses to my plea for help! I'll give you a little more information now, and go back to the books and my software provider to get some more... I work for a drycleaning (now *fabricare*) operation, and our system was developed specifically for another company in our general area We bought into it (before *I* had anything to do with this company!!), the second to purchase it, and only one more company has done so since in the last 20 months. Sooooo.... the developer has moved on to other things which are more profitable for their company, and is still supporting our hardware, and will support software *only at a huge cost to us*. Unfortunately, no specific software development clause appears in any part of our contracts with this company. I have purchased a couple informix/sql books, and my software people sent me <<10 VIDEO TAPES>>!! on SQL as well as a DBACCESS manual to "help" me. When I get a hundred free hours I'll check out the tapes, and I've been reading sporadically for the last couple weeks. I'll read some more and talk to my programmer again, and be back with some more specific stuff - promise! Thanks again - Marcia
