My only hope is that Informix and DB2 are made similar enough so that if anyone *does* migrate that way I can still offer my skills; and that the user base recognises that similarity. Otherwise I will see 15+ years' commercial Informix experience go down the toilet once the last Informix site has switched the lights off. And in a market as precarious as this one, even though I am in the process of gaining Oracle and SQL Server qualifications (I was going to get Informix ones too but they seem to have disappeared off the face of the Net), I don't take it as read that I'll be able to get work in another part of the industry.
