Increased memory w/7.24

I have not been able to read the newsgroup in a while, so excuse me if this has been discussed. I have an instance up on a test server. Here are the facts (and difficulties): 272 meg ram HPUX 10.01 Running 7.22.UC1, the instance uses about 60 megs ram (measured using "glance"). When the instance is upgraded to 7.24.UC5-1, it uses about 150 megs! No changes were made to the config file. The onstat -g seg shows about 60 meg total memory used by the 7.22, and about 58 by the 7.24 (the resident segment was 2 meg smaller). "informix" was the only user on the machine other than system stuff. Where has by memory gone? Please tell me that this is not how 7.24 works.
