NewEra3.1 Connection to AccessDB - OLE Datatype Problems

Topics: General Discussion
Thanks to the hints from this group we can now connect, read and write to an Access DB from our NewEra application. Everything works fine as far as standard Datatypes (INT,CHAR,etc.) are concerned, but if we try to read (or write) to a field which is defined in Access as an OLEField (here: the Access datatype) via a NewEra SuperField defined as ixOLEField (here: the NewEra datatype) we get the following error message: -50701 Invalid data for an ixOleField. An attempt has been made to store non-SQLByte data, or data that has not been created by an OLE document server, into an ixOleField. Valid data for an ixOleField must be created by an OLE document server, and if the ixOleField is associated with a column in a database, the column must be of type SQLByte. We are now wondering what is the problem. Is it that Access is not an OLE document server, or is it that Access does not serve the OLE datatype that NewEra needs? (The NewEra Application works fine, if we use an Informix DB as the datasource.) Rene van Luijt University of Koblenz docu@uni-koblenz.de
