How to send event at fixed interval time with NewEra

I want to design a program to open a MODALPOPUP Window , When user not input anything at a fixed time interval( such as 5 minute), this Window will automatically close . I try to use send event to event queue to fix this problem, but I can no get desired result. I do not know how to send serial events at fixed interval time (such as 5 minute) as I design window application in C language with TIMER function which send message event to handler at fixed interval time setuped by programmer. NewEra have same TIMER function as window?
