Will this work with dbdiff?
Posted in 1994
Hi all, Let me give you a scenario and please tell me if dbdiff will work: We are currently upgrading our On-Line engine from 4.10 to 5.01. The way that we are doing this is to do a level-0 restore of our 4.10 instance on another system (this 'new' system will initially be running version 4.10 also). As soon as the restore is completed, we shutdown the database on the new system and upgrade that system to version 5.01. This means that we will have two systems: One running version 4.10 and one running version 5.01. We will be running production with Informix version 5.01, but we see a need to have both versions in sync for at least a week so we can revert back if needed. The trouble is keeping version 4.10 in sync with any transactions that are being applied to version 5.01. We currently have a process that will basically take all transactions that are being done to our new system (5.01) and apply them to our old system (4.10). Will dbdiff provide us with an easier alternative? This is a 25 GB database consisting of 20 GB of BLOBS. Thanks in advance. ############################################################## David Nguyen Internet: davidn@geis.geis.com GE Information Services UUCP: uunet!ge!davidn 401 North Washington Street Voice: 1-301-340-5461 Rockville, MD 20850 USA ##############################################################
