Performance tuning

We're running Informix 7.3 on a Solaris 7 box with 2 Pentium 450 processors,512 mb ram and 7 cheetah 9 gig scsi drives. I have 2 problems : We also have 2 HP dat drives (internal running and for the first month they were fine and now they keep aborting the ontape -c and -s commands with a scsi bus reset error. I have patch 10753 (cadp) patch installed and I heard there was a revision to this. The performance of the machine is a lot faster than our SUN installation was but I still beleive there is more performance to be gained. If anyone has any ideas on this I would be gratefull.
