(Rather not, obviously) Do you realy mean "full text keyword searches" as when you have a lot of large texts stored in the database (as blobs probably) and want to be able to search for any word and have all rows returned where that word (or combinations of words) occur? In that case you need the Universal Server with a text search datablade. You can also use specialised databases created for this purpose only. If you mean the more mundane task of searching on a regular character column in a case insensitive way there are some solutions in the FAQ. The best one is usually to add an extra column to the table and allways store the uppercase (or lowercase) version of your column here. Then modify your searches to use this column. One significant advantage is this column can be indexed. This functionality is also much easier to implement in the Universal Server as you don't need an extra column but can use a function instead both for the search and to create an index. :Thanks in Advance for Your Help, :John Nils.Myklebust@idg.no NM Data AS, P.O.Box 9090 Gronland, N-0133 Oslo, Norway My opinions are those of my company The Informix FAQ is at http://www.iiug.org
