Character terminal, with serial connection? Did You see any C/S GUI app that can be compared in speed with terminal connected to fat server? Heavy on resources, compared to what? Terminal emulator? Micro$oft Office 97? Typically, it uses 30% of processor time max, footprint on HD is irrelevant, fglgx runner with all DLLs and I-Net uses about 2MB, P-code is in my biggest app 1,5 MB loaded,(about 2MB of source) EXE is 3 times bigger, but if it is acceptable to run MS Office for any busyness user, try looking at one of key Office DLLs, MSO97.DLL. OK, screen redraw is slow on 3.x, but on 95 and PCI accelerator card is about 3 to 5 times faster. Did You try it? Unstable, comparing to Windows 3.1 ? Try running it on 95, I was surprised, and You will too. It say much more about Win3.x, then about Win4GL. It crashes about the same as Netscape Navigator 3.x I would day, this one was buried alive. Try it on w95. Andrej PS. Why is everybody replaying only with e-mail, and not to the group? Don't You think someone could be interested in this? I get a lot of responses, but the tread looks like "Ma, look, I have my own group!" #include<std.disclaimer.h> **************************************************************** * Andrej Falout, RDBMS R&D, Croatia, Europe, afalout@zg.tel.hr * *--------------------------------------------------------------* * If you can read, You can do it ! * ****************************************************************
