Update TEXT with PERL?

Can anyone recommend a method to update a TEXT field using PERL? I have tried update test set col2 = ? where col1 = ?; which I knew wouldn't work (according to documentation of TEXT data type). Any ideas? PS: I would rather be using LVARCHAR in a 9.X flavor, but unfortunately they won't look at 9 as an option. -- Rob Wilson rwilson@ntsource.com

If its DBI/DBD, then I believe the DBD::Informix documentation says that you can't update, that you have to delete the old and insert a new record. (Check it out yourself to confirm this).
