The chunk pathnames are stored in an internal table contained in rootdbs and may not be changed. I might ask why you want to rename the chunk, and then upon hearing the answer suggest that you ln your raw device names to pneumonic names that are unique to your OnLine instance before you assign them to chunks. That way, if you ever have to restore an OnLine instance to another platform, you can similarly ln that platform's raw devices to the same pneumonics and not risk encountering device names on the other platform which are in use by filesystems. >If there is no way to change the pathname, I will have >to drop the DB space and reinitialize it, something I >would rather not do right now. ___ ___ Senior Consultant / ) __ . __/ /_ ) _ _ __ Informix Software Inc.
