Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Hi,
Being new to Informix database (I was recently employed by AT&T to work on
one), I was wandering if anyone knows whether Informix itself allows the
user to switch compression on or off when archiving.
I am currently using tape driver EXB-8505 which has the capability to do
archive in 2 modes (compression and non-compress). The problem is that those
modes are software controlled, and my unix commands (developped by AT&T) do
not set compression off. Does Informix provide any such commands? Manuals
and my co-workers could not help with the problem.
Tom
