Informix NET and STAR configuration with ON-LINE

I would like to correctly configure our informix-net and informix-star with the informix on-line we have. After reding the documentation of informix-net and star, we were confused. I would like to know the followings: When do we use informix-net ? Is informix-net used on the server or on the client ? When do we need informix-star ? What do we need in the following files : /etc/services $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts Finally, when is the SQLRM variable needed ? What we have right now is the following: Operating system: sunos 4.1.3 Database: Informix online 5.01 Informix net: ??? Informix star: ??? variables: INFORMIXDIR=/logiciels/informix SQLEXEC=sqlexec INFORMIXDIR in PATH SQLRM not set No sqlhosts file In the /etc/services ... sqlexec 1525/tcp ...
