Re: NewEra programers

I add myself here... We have a medium size development project here. 6 programmers involved. Unlike most other ppl we are satisfied with NewEra - it fits our needs. Its a mixture of NE2.2 and NE3.1 right now. About 200 client machines are involved. NewEra is only used for the clients. All server side code is written in C. The only reason why we are planning to change to something else (maybe Java) next certury is that it will not be supported forever. What we like about the language is that it is object oriented enough (which was completely new to the programmers who work for my customer) and that it is close to 4GL and therefore easy to learn for them. I am more of a C programmer myself. I always hated the shortcomings of the tools involved but not the language itself. I must add however that we never planned to use anythind else but Informix for the server side. The whole program now is rather big (about 300 windows involved). Is this actually the only success story with NewEra? In Germany I only see some minor projects and a lot of failures.
