No, it applies to the whole paragraph. I had something to say about every part of that email except the ODBC part, so I hammered in some fluff about the changing nature of tech-products. I thought that in the light of the JDBC thread, and the popularity of client products that do not require ODBC, this paragraph would be seen as satire. (Though, over the long term, it is true!) Actually, I thought he was asking about whether his client would crash when he ran the programs. It wasn't worth the trouble to explain it, really.
