RE: ESQL problems in migration from ON-LINE to SE

Hi davzhong Sorry for mangling your name, but I picked up your message on the = rebound.=20 In SE, you can create an empty table in database A having the same = structure as the one in database B, modify the pathname in systables for = that table to point to database B's table. This is an approach I used = succesfully before I learned about synonyms. The other (official) = approach is of course to use synonyms. Hope this helps Sujit Pal DBA, Computer Sciences Corp. ---------- From: Billy Wheeler[SMTP:billy@west.co.za] Sent: Friday, September 20, 1996 2:05 AM To: davzhong@richmond.infi.net Cc: informix-list@rmy.emory.edu Subject: Re: ESQL problems in migration from ON-LINE to SE > I have the following questions: >=20 > Our application is migrating from Informix On-Line to Informix SE. > In our application, I need to create a joined table from tables in=20 > DIFFERENT databases, using ESQL/C. Is there a = way > to fix the problem. Any hint will be appreciated. I assume you want to join across servers for a query. You might be able = to create a synonym for your remote table(s) in your local database. = Install Informix-NET, and you _should_ be on your way. Alternatively, you can hit your remote database, query your join table = into a temp table, connect to your local db and the temp table will still be = there.
