Re: Reorganisation of Informix Servers

David et al, Informix sent out a FAQ about the latest changes to SAPs ( Solution Alliance Partners ), however, they put all kinds of secrecy behind it for some strange reason. Guess they're afraid the competition might learn about it. :-) One point they make in the information is that they don't want this to be any big deal. I love it! :-) You should try to get one of the kits Informix sent out, as it also contains the latest pricing. There is also the usual PowerPoint presentation printout, highlighting the reasoning. The FAQ is quite informative, and the other tidbits of information are good. I put together a brief overview at my site for the December issue of InxUtil, however, it's not very detailed. Informix should put the FAQ on the web so that everyone will have a better understanding of the situation, and not have to ask in c.d.i.--not that asking is a bad thing, but the information *is* available, it just needs to be accessable. SAPs shouldn't be the only ones who see this information. :-) Tim -- Tim Schaefer \\\\|// tschaefe@mindspring.com 6 6 -------------------------------oOOo---( )---o00o---------------------- http://www.inxutil.com ICQ:6358805 http://www.informix.com http://www.iiug.org news://comp.databases.informix mailto:majordomo@iiug.org no subject body: subscribe linux-informix http://securities.stanford.edu/complaints/informix/ ====================================================================== David Williams wrote: > > With the reorganisation of Informix Online/XPS/Universal into > Informix Dynamic Server with options can anyone tell me what > has happened to version numbers? > > Is there a great renumbering happening especially since Online 8.x > (XPS) has now split into 2 options (Advanced Decision Support and > Extended Parallel options). > > Just when I though I had version numbers sorted out for the FAQ! > > - And what has happened to the Online 7.3 release will it have > options? > - Will all the numbers change? > - Can I have all the options or are they suppose to be mutually > exclusive?
