I experienced the same problem and eventually the answer came off the net: Make sure the proper protocol (TCP/IP) is selected in the "SETNET" utility. When IPX/SPX is selected, no connection can be made, and then I-Net apparently looks for the error message text in the "CHREP1.IEM" message file which isn't there when Novell support isn't installed.
