Why am I receiving the following error message: } INFORMIXSERVER value is not listed in the sqlhosts file } } } Thanks a LOT in advance, } Eddie } Eddie, I think that you will find that your INFORMIXSERVER name is NOT listed in you sqlhosts file. According to the "relevant environment parameters" which you listed, your INFORMIXSERVER=cypres, but the first field of your sqlhosts file only contains store7, eddie-db1, demo_on, and demo_se as a list of dbservernames. You do have cypres listed in the third field as the name of the machine where the store7, and eddie-db1 INFORMIXSERVERs reside. The four fields of the sqlhosts file on a UNIX node are: dbservername, nettype, hostname, servicename The dbservername needs to match the DBSERVERNAME entry in the onconfig file of the node where the database resides. (Note: The INFORMIXSERVER environment parameter should also match the DBSERVERNAME if the user is on the same machine as the database.) The hostname needs to match the node name of the machine where the dbservername resides, and should also match the entry in the etc/hosts file. You really should see the chapter on Client/Server Communications in the INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server Administrator's Guide for a detailed explaination of all the fields in the sqlhosts file.
