Hi Jason, I'd never go to Linux because there is always trouble with the systems libc, thread library and so on. Solaris Machines from Sun are cheap even compared with intel boxes. In my company we IBM x440 (4 CPU) Linux RedHat AS 2.1 and Sun Fire V480 (2CPU) Solaris 9. The Sun boxes are cheaper, easier to manage and faster. On our 2 CPU V480 (4GB RAM) we have arround 600 concurrent connect and a DB Size of 100GB.
