Yes, I think this would be a great idea to push for. You might want to make it more palatable to Informix sales forces by limiting the number of licences that can be purchased at the discount (say 1-2) and restricting it to development licences only with support at full price. This would mean that a lot of small companies could buy the 1-2 New Era licences they need for much of thier development at a much reduced price. Thier customers would pay full price for the runtime systems and support keeping the Informix salespeople happier. Plus big companies wouldn't be able to equip a complete development group at the low price but would get cheap small project evaluations. They can then roll them into full use when they decide to start using the product which is often a lot later than the 30 day free eval period that you are normally entitled to.
