sql error -229 and -113
Posted in 1993
Hi all,
I have a process that performs a "select * into TEMP". The name of the TEMP
table contains the PID of the process that generated the select. Once this
table is created, the process does some writes, drops the table, then goes to
sleep. A second process then signs on and does the exact select statement,
but the name of this TEMP table contains its PID. This way, the TEMP tables
are unique. The problem is when the second process tries to perform the
select statement, it gets a -229: Could not open or create a temporary file,
with ISAM error -113: ISAM error: the file is locked. We have found a
workaround this by doing a $database statement after the drop TEMP statement, before the process goes to sleep.
Is there something I am doing wrong in dropping the TEMP table? Why am I
getting this error when the second process is not even trying to open the TEMP
table created by the first process?
My current setup is:
esql/c 5.01.UD1
Online 5.01.UD1
HP 9000/897 running HPUX 9.0
Thanks in advance,
