HP/4gl "Insufficient Memory" error Q

I'm having a problem trying to get even a modest (ie, the demo program -- "c4gl -o create create.4gl) Informix 4gl program to compile w/o getting an "insufficient memory to load .../lib4gl.a directory" error. The system is an HP 9000/735, 32Mb memory, HPUX 7.05B, Informix 2.10.03K. Unfortunately, I have very little resources or support at my disposal. Kind of a "here's a machine, we loaded informix on it -- go develop some 4gl applications..." I do know that lib4gl.a is a valid ar file and that esqlc seems to work ok (at least I can compile custom perform modules). Any tips, pointers, things to look for would be appreciated.
