In a development environment I have no doubt that RDS is far superior. You have access to the debugger, compiles are practically instant, etc., etc. In a production environment, the only thing against RDS is that the psuedo-executable (.4gi) is not re-entrant. So if you have many users, you could tie up a lot of RAM. We actually deploy all our site with RDS as well, and we don't have any performance problems. However, YAMMV!!!
