Okay, I think I see what you mean. But this is why you shouldn't use the
name of one product to refer to a whole array of functions. Distributed
access in terms of things like two-phase commit is not available, but
connecting to 8.2 and getting data out is. Minek was doing it the
'right' way round. The distributed query was in 7.2, the target database
was in 8.2, which for him worked.

Okay, when I said the servers are now network ready, I meant you can
connect to them across the network. The actual capabilities of the
server to talk to another may well, and do vary.

Yes, you are talking FROM 8.21, Minek was talking from 7.2. Subtle
difference, but it is different.
I stand by my previous answer that I can think of no reason why this
should not continue to work. As you say, this functionality is being
added to IDS-ADO also.
